A heated water cooler and emergency designing for Wal Mart Mexico: Life in G-ville

27 Jan

Just wanted to give you guys a brief update on how things are going at my new job. My lunch break is drawing to its close, so I will brief.

The Perfect Commute – 40 minutes, 3 turns, Zero traffic
New Office – On the first day, I got to help move boxes and furniture to a newly renovated building where our new International Graphics Office is now located. Big windows, a handicapped-size bathroom at the back of the office, my own extension.
The Perks – the company gym is right next door, I get two free lunches at a local restaurant every month, I have free access to a full kitchen upstairs which includes a heated water cooler–oxymoron? yes. but it makes tea-making a breeze.
Design Emergencies – Every few days we go into “Emergency Mode”, when one of our friendly marketing people realizes they have a big meeting with someone like Wal-Mart Mexico tomorrow and don’t have any labels or pictures for the ten or so products they’re going to try to sell there.

I could go on, but it’s time to get back to the fast-paced work environment. By the way, I love my new job. L8r.

OMG. It’s called artistic license. I was drawing attention to the brevity of my entry through the use of one of those many brevities ubiquitous to our text-message-crazed society. G2G, TTYL.
